Q: Is Sandee Saunders good or evil?
A: While most authorities on paranormal matters concur that were are visited on the plane by both good and evil entities, most experts hasten to note that evil manifestations are far, far outnumbered by non-committal, neutral or even positively benevolent, ones. Based on my personal sightings and the hundreds of eye-witness accounts I have recorded, Sandee’s Head is one of the “good ’uns.” Yes, many have been terrified by the vision of a floating disembodied head, but let us not judge by outward appearances. Some have suggested that Sandee appears to prod drowsy drivers to safe wakefulness, surely a positive deed for those involved.
Q: Sandee’s head and Roswell crash site both in New Mexico--coincidence?
A: From the time of the ancient druids to today’s quantum physicians, it has been recognized that certain areas are psycho-physical vectors. So while it there is no evidence to suggest that alien visitors are behind the floating head manifestations, or vice-versa, it is surely no coincidence that two such powerful meta-phenomena have manifested in the same quadrant of the Southwest.
Q: Isn’t Sandee really just another manifestation of the La Llorona legend?
A: Dating from the time of the conquistadores, the legend in question tells of a benighted young woman who, betrayed by a faithless lover, murders their child and is condemned to eternally walk the earth crying for her lost one. She traditionally haunts areas near water, such as rivers, lakes etc. La Llorona means “the wailing woman,” and she is widely seen as a harbinger of death and misfortune. But she is not known to manifest as a floating head, nor was she known as a singer, let alone a very talented and popular one, so my response is a qualified “no.” Visit www.lallorona.com for more info on this colorful tale.
Q: Can I talk to Sandee on my Ouija board?
A: I can’t repeat this enough: the Ouija Board is NOT a toy! The board itself is not dangerous, but the form of unmediated communication you may be attempting most definitely is! Unless you are in the presence of a certified medium, clarvoyant, or ghost hunter, I caution you in the strongest possible words not to attempt to communicate with Sandee via this channel. Sandee isn’t the problem, it’s some of the others who may take advantages of the open passageway. A much safer and reliable method to hear from Sandee is to play “Mornin’ Kind of Feelin’” backwards. This is hard to do on modern tape decks and CD players, so we have made available a recording of “’nileeF fo dniK ’ninroM” (that’s “Mornin’ Kind of Feelin’” backwards), which you can download as an MP3 here.
Q: Is it true that Sandee is being considered for beatification?
A: This is almost certainly not the case. While Sandee is certainly responsible for much happiness and more than her share of miracles, she was not a Roman Catholic, and she was an unwed mother. I guess holiness lies in the heart of the beholder.
Q: What are the best places to view Sandee manifestations?
A: It is believed that Sandee met her fate between 2 and 4 a.m. on August 1, 1972, on the bridge where Interstate 25 crosses the Rio Grande, approximately 4.3 miles northeast of Arrey, New Mexico. But her head is regularly spotted along the entire I-25 corridor throughout NM, from the Texas border to Raton. In addition, psychically inclined souls have reported Sandee visitations from as far afield as Helsinki in Sweden to Tallahassee, Florida.
RELATED Q: Where can I go to celebrate the memory of Sandee Saunders?
A: Why, historic Hatch New Mexico, of course! The “Chile Capital of the World” is best known for its annual Labor Day Weekend Chile Festival, but there’s much more to Hatch than the spicy green stuff.
